Terms & Conditions - Summer Isle Films


These terms and conditions are for your protection as well as ours. Please read them carefully.

Initial Meetings

There is no charge made by Summer Isle Films for the initial meeting to discuss a project.

Quotes for work

Summer Isle Films always put quotes in writing, which contain a total cost & breakdown across the project. Quotes are valid for three months from the date of issue.

Copyright (Summer Isle Films material)

The copyright of all material that has been captured by Summer Isle Films is solely owned by Summer Isle Films and protected under UK law.

Copyright (material provided by client)

In the event of the client providing material (video, audio, photographs, logos etc) for inclusion into a Summer Isle Films production, copyright must firstly be obtained from the original copyright owner/material provider. In order for Summer Isle Films to use this material the copyright must be explicitly transferred to Summer Isle Films. Or the material to be provided to Summer Isle Films totally free of charge and the client will have to indemnify Summer Isle Films against any future possible claims, disputes, expenses, or similar that may arise for a third party concerning usage of such material.

Summer Isle Films will reserve the right to use the final production in full or part content for promotional purposes.

Payment Terms

Our payment terms are strictly 30 days from date of invoice. This term overrides any Terms and Conditions stated in a Purchase order and in the event of an order being placed, the Client accepts this Term. Summer Isle Films reserve the right to add an accumulative percentage on late payments as dictated under the UK government late payments scheme.

Payment by bank transfer or cheque.

All cheques must be made payable to ‘Summer Isle Studios’.

Approval/amendments of draft footage (1 set of amendments)

On the majority of projects, a draft version of the production will be forwarded to the client for their review. This draft may receive one set of minor revisions only, which is included in the original agreed cost.

Health and Safety

In all instances Summer Isle Films will reserve the right to remove any of its personnel and/or equipment from a location if it is deemed unsafe or if they are subjected to abusive or aggressive behaviour. In this instance the client will be liable for any costs incurred as a result of this.

Bad Weather

In the event of inclement weather, Summer Isle Films reserves the right to change the date of filming to a more suitable day, Summer Isle Films will not allow the safety of the equipment or personnel to be compromised.

Aborting filming (on shoot of day) or re-shooting due to clients lack of organisation

In the event of filming being delayed or aborted due to a lack of organisation from the Client, Summer Isle Films reserves the right to change the relevant days filming. A re-visit to site to carry out further works may incur additional cost.

Equipment substitution/failure

In the unlikely event that Summer Isle Films experiences equipment failure or difficulties, all efforts will be made to find suitable replacement equipment as soon as possible. No further claims or liability will be accepted.

Clear access for filming

If the filming venues are being organised by the Client, it is the Client’s responsibility to ensure that Summer Isle Films has clear access to all relevant locations required throughout the day, delays in filming may incur additional charges.

Terminating a contract

A customer may terminate a contract at any time by written notice of termination.

When a customer terminates a contract, they will remain liable to pay in full for all work previously undertaken and in progress by Summer Isle Films, unless any other written agreement is reached in advance.

Website amendments

We may alter the pricing and information on our website at any time and the changes will take effect immediately.


Video to DVD transfers

Carriage of your media materials

We recommend that you send your media materials to us by delivery service that requires “a signature on delivery” and insurance. According to your instructions we shall return your media materials and DVD to you by Royal Mail Special Delivery or Royal Mail Recorded Delivery providing a signature on delivery and insurance. Any disputes regarding loss or damage of your goods during transit should be taken up directly with Royal Mail or the nominated delivery Company.

Safety of your source material

We always take exceptional care with your tapes. In the unlikely event of us causing damage to or loss of any material, we will pay up to £10 compensation per tape/item with a maximum of £100 in any order. Please note that this does not apply to materials that have arrived in a damaged condition or were damaged during reproduction due to a material defect or being too old.

DVD Discs

We reproduce your media material onto high-quality Verbatim DVD-R and DVD+R disks. Most DVD players will accept either of these discs but it is advisable to consult your manual/supplier for your particular DVD player to check it will accept either type of disc. If there are any limitations with your particular DVD player please advise us at the time of placing an order.

Delivery Time

We aim to complete and dispatch your orders within 5 to 28 working days from receipt. For larger orders of 5 or more tapes please contact us for a delivery time.

Complaints procedure

If you have a complaint with regard to our reproduction, please e-mail us at action@summerislefilms.co.uk within 7 days of receipt of your order. We shall investigate the situation and endeavour to rectify the problem as soon as possible to your satisfaction. Please note we can not be held responsible for damaged or mishandled discs and the quality of the medium is only as good as the original source.

Your responsibility

It is your responsibility to ensure that the source media is not obscene or contains child pornography nor should it infringe any third party’s copyright, patent, trademark, trade secret or other propriety rights or rights of publicity or privacy and to comply with current laws of shipping audio/visual material.

Summer Isle Films confidentiality policy

We promise to respect the confidentiality of your identity and audio visual material. We will not supply your contact information to any third party companies unless you specifically ask us to.


All Terms and Conditions stated within this document are deemed acceptable to the Client upon receipt of a written order.

All Terms and Conditions stated within this document override any Terms and Conditions from the Client.
