Shot over Autumn 2017 in Suffolk, we are pleased to release Baxter & Baxter’s 2017 Christmas Advert.
Shot in 4k on the Blackmagic Ursa Mini, coupled with the DJI Ronin and DJI Inspire 1 Pro, the crew had to make 5 early morning shoots and 2 evenings to get the shots for the 1minute 20 advert.
Written to subtly feature all products from Baxter’s range including bracelets, scarfs and pocket squares and of course Suffolk, the home of the brand.
Vintage Vehicles kindly locally provided by enthusiasts include a 1956 Jaguar XK140 SE, a 1975 Land Rover Series 3 Safari Wagon & a 1965 Matchless G15 CSR. To capture these great Vehicles at their best we also trialed our own custom bonnet mountable rig which takes the ronin and the Ursa Mini. This enables us to get up close and personal while driving and provide smooth cinematic tracking shots. The rig itself takes much of the vibration out giving the ronin gimbal a lot less work to do. Using the Ronin remote control and remote viewfinder we could adjust the positing of the shots we needed while driving.
Stylistically we wanted a bit of movement in each shot, but mainly keeping wides for landscapes and closeups for products.
The soundtrack was sourced in pre-production and had a large impact on what scenes we wrote into the film as wanted the lyrics to match the visuals as best as we could. The track ‘Snowflakes’ was sourced from Audio Network but created by Bob Bradley, Matt Sanchez, Steve Dymond and Rosie Doonan. Its a lovely addition to the advert.
